Accidents can happen at any time of the day without any warning or announcement. Many times our clients call us in frantic panic, asking for advice about what to do next. So we thought it wise to compile a list of the most needed documentation when you consider to claim from your vehicle insurance. Sometimes you can be lucky and avoid a third-party crash and even then the following requirements apply:

What you need to provide when claiming from your vehicle insurance:

  1. Date and time when the accident or loss took place.
  2. The location where the accident or loss takes place.
  3. A full description of the accident or loss.
  4. A quotation for the repairs to your vehicle.
  5. Photos of the damage to your vehicle.
  6. A copy of the driver’s license.

Sometimes we’re not so lucky to avoid a third-party. For you to successfully claim from the insurance company, you will need some information from the third-party that is involved in the accident. Here are five additional documents and information you need for a third-party accident:

  1. Police case number (you have to report it, very important).
  2. Name and contact details of the third party.
  3. Type of vehicle of the third party.
  4. Registration number of the third party’s vehicle.
  5. Insurance information on the third party.
